In a Blue Moon

Tonight we will ring in the new year by the light of a shining blue moon. A blue moon, by definition, is the second full moon in a calendar month. The first full moon of December occurred on the second day of the month. New Year’s Eve blue moons are rare, showing up only every 19 years. The last time was in 1990; the next one won’t come again until 2028. Make sure to look up at the night sky as you say goodbye to the first decade of the 21st century.

We wish you all the best in the coming new year and thank you for sharing 2009 with us!
