Kingdom Awards Spring Community Grants

Community grants were on the agenda at the last board meeting. The directors chose four grant applicants to receive  our first quarter awards. For those of you who don’t know, the grant program was started about two years ago. It assists community groups with projects in the areas served by Kingdom Telephone Company. Up to four $500 grants are awarded quarterly, and recipients are determined by the Board of Directors. They give priority to projects that will benefit the largest percentage of community members.

If you are interested in getting a community grant for your group or organization, you can find more information at our website, http://www.ktis.net/community_grants.php. The deadline for the next grant is June 30.

The Mokane Lions Club received a grant of $500 to be used to purchase tables and chairs for their building which is available to the community for a wide variety of events.

The Callaway County 4-H Council will use their $500 award in their Reframe, Recycle and Rejuvenate project. The project will collect recyclable plastics and convert them into landscaping blocks which will be used in the gardens of two county nursing homes.

The Callaway County United Way received a $500 grant which will be used in the FamilyWize Prescription Drug Discount Card Program for card distribution and community awareness.

A $500 grant was given to the Church of the Risen Savior Catholic Church at Starkenburg to be applied to the general expenses incurred in the construction of a new Parish Center.
