Field Trip to a Google Data Center

Occasionally groups of schoolchildren visit us at Kingdom to tour our facilities and learn more about what we do. Today we are going to take a tour of a Google data center. The search engine monolith recently released a video on YouTube entitled “Security and Data Protection in a Google Data Center.”

The video looks at the steps Google takes to keep large scale data theft at bay. It also follows the fates of the hard drives on Google servers once they have reached the end of their lives. Normally, we don’t think beyond typing in a search term and hitting “enter.” The behind-the-scenes journey into this aspect of the world of Google is fascinating.
