Join Us at the 59th Annual Meeting

It’s a sure sign of spring in Callaway County when Kingdom Telephone members and staff gather at the Annual Meeting. This year the meeting falls early, on March 1, and we have crossed our fingers that we will have a pleasant day to get together at South Callaway R-II High School in Mokane. At the meeting this year, shareholders will elect directors for the Auxvasse, Big Spring, and Tebbetts exchanges. The list of candidates follows.

The nominees are:
Auxvasse Exchange
Mike Love
307 E. Elm Street, Auxvasse
Dianna Huls
P.O. Box 483, Auxvasse

Big Spring Exchange
Gene Eldringhoff
5 Freedom School Rd., Montgomery City
Michael Monnig
16 Big Spring Rd., New Florence

Tebbetts Exchange
Eugene Richards
4358 St. Rd. AA, Tebbetts
Wilbur Krogsted
3363 Zenith Dr., Tebbetts

You can begin to register at 10:30 a.m. Please be sure to bring the registration card included in the 2014 Annual Meeting Notice you received in the mail in mid-to-late February. The card is designed to make the registration process smoother and faster. It also allows you to become eligible for door prizes.

Head to the cafeteria when you have registered, where you can enjoy a luncheon of sloppy joes, baked beans, chips, and cole slaw. Follow it all up with a piece of pie and a beverage. The Callaway County 4-H Clubs will begin to serve at 10:30 a.m.

When you have finished your meal, take a seat in the gym to listen to Bill Benskin’s Easy Rhythm Band. The Easy Rhythm Band played for us at the meeting last year, and we had lots of positive feedback and requests for them to return. In case you missed them last year, Bill Benskin’s group plays “the best in Country, Western, and old standard music”. The six-piece band, characterized by Benskin as “good ol’ boys having fun,” has been playing their old Nashville sound in the area since 2002. The band will begin playing at 11:00 a.m.

The business portion of the meeting will be called to order at 1:00 p.m. When the election has been held and other business has been completed, drawings will be held for a flat screen television, an Apple iPad, a Kindle Fire, 50 hams and 100 turkeys. Special drawings will be held for those 12 Years Old & Under, and 13-18 years Old. The winner in each category will receive  $50 cash prize.

Have a say in how your local telephone cooperative is run — and have a good time doing it! We look forward to seeing you!
